If you are into woodcrafting at all, no doubt you know that your woodcraft supplier, whether online or in a local store, needs to have what you're looking for.

If your supplier doesn't have what you're looking for, then what good are they to you?

In addition to having supplies you need, a woodcraft shop needs to have good customer service, be convenient for you to use, have a good location (if local), have staff that is knowledgeable, and the like. However, even these things don't matter if the shop doesn't have what you're looking for. Thus, inventory and having even hard-to-find items, such as particular moldings or tools, is most important. Unfortunately, many smaller stores don't carry particularly rare items and often stock just those that are most often asked for.

Because of this, many woodcrafting customers now have decided to go to the Internet to look for what they want. The Internet is a great tool for both woodcrafting hobbyists and those who do so as a profession, because you'll be able to find whatever you need with just a click or two of your mouse. In addition, because competition is relatively fierce, most online suppliers will do what they can to provide you with very good service. The one drawback to an Internet woodcraft shop is that you can't always see exactly what you're getting, but customer service should be able to help you with this, either via phone or online chat.

Still, if you do have a local woodcraft shop, it behooves you to give it some patronage for the items you can get there if you can. Human interaction is important, as is seeing products you want to buy up close and "in person," so this is a service that no online proprietor can provide you with. If you develop a good relationship with your local woodcraft proprietor, he or she may also be a help you get items you need by special order, and you are much more likely to get personal attention.

Whether you shop online, at your local woodcraft shop, or to a combination of the two, you should be able to find what you need very easily and stay well within your budget besides.
